The Reformer was invented by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s, and many different models have since been created. I work with the Allegro 2 Reformer by Balanced Body - a model designed in 2011. The equipment works with springs and pulleys, which create progressive resistance, helping to produce concentric and eccentric muscle contractions. At the same time, the stabilizing muscle groups are encouraged to work isometrically to maintain correct positioning. The Reformer is the perfect workout machine - it’s versatile in the sense that you can decrease and increase the resistance, and it allows for many different ways to work on one part of the body, making this workout ideal for people from all walks of life.
